Terms of Service
Effective 21 May 2026
Plain-English summary: These are the rules for using Laceup. Be decent to other members. Keep your password safe. You own what you post — we just display it on your club's pages. If you pay us for a plan and you're not happy in the first 30 days, we'll refund you.
Laceup is software for tennis clubs. By signing up, you're agreeing to use it on the terms below. We've kept this short and tried to write it in language an actual person would read.
These terms are between you and Laceup Ltd, a company registered in Ireland. When we say "we" or "Laceup" we mean Laceup Ltd. When we say "you" we mean the person signing up.
Who can use Laceup
You need to be at least 13 to create an account directly. If you're under 13, your parent or guardian can add you to a club as a managed participant — they're the account holder, you're just the player on the ladder or the registrant for the event.
If you're signing up on behalf of a club (as an admin), you're confirming you have the authority to do that.
Your account
Plain-English summary: Keep your password safe. Don't pretend to be someone else. We'll assume actions taken from your account are yours.
You're responsible for what happens on your account. That means:
- Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has it, change it.
- Don't sign up under a fake name or someone else's identity.
- Don't share your account login with another person — invite them to your club instead.
If we see signs that your account has been compromised, we may temporarily lock it and contact you.
What clubs can do
If you're a club admin, you have control over your club's space inside Laceup. You can:
- Invite and remove members
- Create, edit, and delete events, updates, courts, and ladders
- Set the club's public page content (name, description, branding, etc.)
- Promote other members to admin
With that control comes responsibility. You're the one your members are trusting to run the club well. We expect admins to act in good faith on behalf of their members.
What members can do
If you're a club member (not an admin), you can:
- See your club's events, updates, courts, and ladder
- Register for events
- Join ladders (if your admin has opened them up)
- Update your own profile
Posting club-wide content — events, updates, ladder configuration — is reserved for admins. That's a deliberate design choice, not a limitation.
Guests
Some events allow guests — people who aren't members of the club. An admin can add a guest by name to an event's attendee list, and guest-accepting events are visible on the club's public page. Guest registration data is kept for 90 days after the event, then deleted.
Acceptable use
Plain-English summary: Be decent. Don't abuse the system or other people on it.
Don't use Laceup to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other members of your club or anyone else
- Pretend to be someone you're not
- Create fake accounts or fake clubs
- Scrape or harvest data from public club pages or anywhere else in the product
- Try to break into other clubs' data or other people's accounts
- Upload anything illegal — including content that infringes someone's copyright, contains malware, or violates someone's privacy
- Use the product to send spam or unsolicited marketing
- Resell access to Laceup, or use it to operate a service for clubs that haven't signed up themselves
We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. We'll usually tell you what we found before we do, but for serious violations (e.g. anything illegal), we may act first and explain after.
What you post
Plain-English summary: Your content stays yours. We just need permission to display it inside the product and on your club's public page.
You own the content you post — event descriptions, club updates, profile info, court details, everything. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
To make Laceup work, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display your content within the product (for your members to see) and on your club's public page (for the public to see, if your admin has chosen to publish it). This licence lasts as long as your content is in the product. When you delete it, the licence ends.
You're responsible for what you post. That means you confirm you have the right to post it (e.g. you're not posting someone else's photo without permission), and that it doesn't break the law or these terms.
Pricing and payment
Plain-English summary: Starter is free. Pro is $19/month. Club is $49/month. If you pay and you're not happy, you have 30 days to ask for a full refund. You can cancel anytime.
Laceup has three plans:
| Plan | Price | Notes | |---|---|---| | Starter | Free | The basics, with limits on members, events, courts, and ladders | | Pro | $19 / month | Higher limits, suitable for most small clubs | | Club | $49 / month | Larger clubs, full feature set |
Specific feature limits are listed on laceup.club and may change over time (we'll never reduce what's included in your current plan without telling you).
30-day money-back guarantee. If you upgrade to a paid plan and you're not happy with Laceup within 30 days, email hello@laceup.club and we'll refund what you've paid. No questions, no claw-back of what you've already done in the product.
Cancellation. You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your club settings. When you cancel:
- You keep access to your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- After that, your club drops to the Starter plan. We don't delete your data — but features that exceed Starter limits will become read-only or hidden until you upgrade again or trim them down.
There are no long-term contracts. You're never locked in.
When paid plans launch, payments will be handled by Stripe. We don't see or store your card details.
Termination
Plain-English summary: You can leave anytime. We can ask you to leave if you break these terms.
You can close your account at any time. Settings → Delete Account. Your personal data is removed immediately from the live database (see the Privacy Policy for what happens with backups).
Your club admin can remove you from a club at any time. That ends your membership of that club but doesn't close your Laceup account.
Club admins can delete a club at any time. This deletes the club and all its content (events, updates, ladders, courts) for everyone in it. We can't undo a club deletion.
We can suspend or terminate an account or a club if it materially breaks these terms — most often, the Acceptable Use section. We'll explain what we found unless legal reasons stop us.
Disclaimers
Plain-English summary: We work hard to keep Laceup running, but we can't promise it'll be up every minute of every day, and we can't promise it'll be perfect.
Laceup is provided "as is". We make no warranties — express or implied — about the product being uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose beyond running a tennis club's day-to-day operations.
We try hard to keep the product reliable. We don't currently offer a contractual uptime guarantee; if we add one for paid plans, we'll update these terms.
You use Laceup at your own discretion. If your ladder draw goes wrong because your internet dropped, or your event sign-up didn't go through because of a bug we hadn't found yet, we'll fix what we can — but we can't promise it'll never happen.
Limitation of liability
Plain-English summary: If something goes wrong and it's our fault, the most we'd ever owe you is the amount you've paid us in the past year. This is standard for SaaS contracts.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or your use of Laceup is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) €50.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost profits, lost data, or loss of business opportunity — even if we knew such damages were possible.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Irish law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by good-faith conversation will be heard in the courts of Ireland.
If you're a consumer in the UK or EEA, this clause doesn't take away mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in the country you live in.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes — anything that affects your rights, what you can do, or what you pay — we'll email account holders at least 14 days before the new version takes effect.
Minor edits (typos, clarifications) will be made without notice, but the effective date at the top of the document will always reflect the current version.
If you don't agree to a change, you can close your account before it takes effect.
Contact
If anything in these terms is unclear, or if you want to talk to us about how Laceup is working for your club, email hello@laceup.club. We read every message.
This is a v1 baseline written in plain language. We'll have a solicitor review before paid features launch.
